    Shahera is a bilingual (Urdu/English) Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-Associate) supervised by Dr. Brandi Smith, LPC-S. She offers individual counseling both in person and through telehealth. She provides compassionate and effective support to individuals across the lifespan, including children (10+ years), teenagers and adults.

    Shahera employs a person-centered lens and helps her clients navigate complex trauma, stress, and life transition concerns. She has previously worked with clients who are navigating acculturation and assimilation issues. She also has experience working with refugees and asylum seekers. Shahera’s background allows her to offer empathy and cultural competence to immigrant and first-generation populations as well. With extensive experience in crisis intervention and case management services, Shahera is committed to providing culturally sensitive mental health support. She is dedicated to creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel understood and empowered.

    Shahera is passionate about heping clients build self-esteem, address trauma, and achieve self-acceptance. She wants to fight the stigma associated with, “log kya kahain gae? (What will people think)?” and provide a safe space for individuals to unpack their concerns. She believes that with dedication and collaboration, clients can make meaningful and lasting changes, gain self-confidence, a sense of community, and personal empowerment.

    Shahera was born in South Asia and lived back and forth between America and Pakistan for different chunks of her life. As a result, her experience, as a global citizen has informed her therapeutic work. She is very passionate about providing a safe space for individuals of all backgrounds. When Shahera is not working, she can be found in a kitchen trying to develop fusion foods and baked goods.
