Telehealth Counseling for all of Texas

Quality, confidential treatment at your reach in the convenient of your home!

Secure, evidence-based therapy delivered wherever you are in Texas — the same quality of care as in-person, without the commute

You do not have to live near a therapist's office to access quality mental health care. You do not have to arrange childcare, navigate traffic, or build an extra hour into your day. You do not have to be in a city with a large enough provider base to find someone whose specialization and approach actually match what you need.

Online therapy has made it possible for anyone in Texas to access the same quality of evidence-based care that was previously available only to those who could reach a specific office. At Minds in Action Counseling, we are licensed to provide therapy to clients throughout Texas via secure telehealth, and we have been doing so with the same clinical standards and therapeutic investment as our in-person work.

Who Online Therapy Works Best For

–     You live outside the DFW area and want access to specialized therapy that is not available locally

–     Your schedule makes consistent in-person appointments difficult or impossible

–     You are managing health concerns, caregiving responsibilities, or other factors that make leaving home challenging

–     You prefer the comfort and privacy of engaging in therapy from your own environment

–     You are in between cities or travel frequently for work and need a consistent therapeutic relationship that does not depend on location

–     You are in a rural area of Texas where mental health provider access is limited

Online therapy is not a lesser version of in-person care. Research consistently supports its clinical equivalence for most presentations, and many clients report that the telehealth format supports engagement in ways that in-person appointments did not.

What Is Online Therapy?

Online therapy, also called telehealth therapy or virtual therapy, is the delivery of psychotherapy via secure video platform in real time. Sessions are conducted live, face to face, with your therapist, in exactly the same format as in-person sessions with the physical location removed. All sessions at Minds in Action Counseling are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant video platform that protects the privacy and security of your information. You need only a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.

The Research on Telehealth Effectiveness

The research on telehealth psychotherapy is extensive and consistent. Multiple studies and meta-analyses have found that telehealth therapy produces equivalent outcomes to in-person therapy for a wide range of presentations, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and PTSD. This equivalence has been demonstrated specifically for evidence-based approaches including CBT and EMDR. The clinical community's confidence in telehealth efficacy has grown substantially, and the format is now considered standard of care rather than a compromise.

For many clients, the telehealth format offers specific advantages that may actually improve outcomes: reduction in transportation barriers that contribute to appointment cancellation, the ability to engage from an environment that feels genuinely private and comfortable, greater flexibility in scheduling that supports consistent attendance, and access to specialized therapists regardless of geographic location.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any special technology to use telehealth?

You need a device with a camera and microphone, which includes most smartphones, tablets, and computers made in the last several years. You also need a reliable internet connection and a private space where you will not be overheard. We send you a secure link before each session; no software download is required.

What if my internet connection is unstable?

Occasional technical hiccups are normal and manageable. If a session is significantly disrupted by technical issues, we reschedule rather than attempting to continue in a compromised format.

Can I switch to in-person sessions at the Plano or Fort Worth office?

Yes. Clients who begin with telehealth may transition to in-person sessions at either location, or use a combination of both, depending on their preferences and circumstances.

Is online therapy appropriate for children?

Telehealth therapy for children depends on the child's age, temperament, and the nature of the presenting concerns. Play therapy is typically most effective in person. Parent consultation sessions and some forms of teen therapy work well via telehealth. We assess appropriateness on a case-by-case basis.

Do you offer online therapy in other languages?

Yes. Several of our therapists provide therapy in Spanish, Mandarin and one therapist speaks French. Sesiones disponibles en espanol. Please let us know your language preference when you contact us.
