Minuki is currently a senior Psychology major at the University of Texas at Dallas and is double minoring in Creative Writing and Literature. She will be graduating in May 2024, and aims to go to graduate school to study for a doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
At Minds in Action, Minuki is a Biosound Therapy Technician, helps with administrative work, creates infographics, and manages social media. She works closely with our team and is dedicated to helping clients to the best of her ability.
Outside of Minds in Action, Minuki is a Black Belt in Isshinryu Karate, and currently works as an instructor at Texas Isshinryu Karate Kai’s East Plano Dojo location. Minuki has been practicing karate for over 7 years, and has won 3 international awards at the Isshinryu Hall of Fame.
Minuki also works as a writer for UTD’s AMP magazine and produces a food review show on UTDTV called Moon Meals. Minuki is a marketing officer for Muse Editorial and previously worked as the Marketing Director for UTDTV. She’s the secretary for UTD HOSA, and has placed twice internationally for Extemporaneous Writing. Minuki is a Girl Scout Gold Award Recipient (2020) for her project offering free women’s self-defense classes for the community. She is passionate about psychology, poetry and writing, and one of her main hobbies is pyrography (woodburning) art. Minuki is bilingual in English and Sinhala.
In the past Minuki has worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) through Frisco ISD and Collin College’s work-study program for 2 years, and has worked in many locations in the DFW area and in departments such as the ER, OR, nursing homes and on ambulances. She is well-versed in medical knowledge and has spent 200+ hours as a CNA alongside 80+ hours volunteering at the Medical City Plano hospital. These experiences deepened her passion for studying psychology and mental health services.
