  • Therapy Rates and Insurance — Minds in Action Counseling

Therapy rates in Plano & Fort Worth TX. In-network with BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, UHC & Oscar. Superbill available. Free consult.

Starting therapy is a meaningful investment of time, attention, and money. We want that investment to be as clear and as accessible as possible, which is why we provide complete transparency about our rates and insurance participation from the beginning.

We accept insurance for individual therapy and offer private-pay options for all services. We also provide Superbills for clients with out-of-network benefits, and we accept HSA and FSA cards. If cost is a barrier, please mention it during your consultation. We will do our best to find a path that works for your situation.

    Individual Therapy Session Rates

Our rates vary by therapist licensure level, which allows us to offer a range of price points while maintaining consistent quality of care across the team. All individual sessions are 50 minutes.

    Therapist LevelSession Rate (50 min)
    LPC-Supervisor (LPC-S)
    Practice owner and clinical supervisor
    $225 per session
    PhD-Level LPC
    Doctoral-level clinician
    $190 per session
    Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
    Fully licensed clinician
    $160 per session
    LPC-Associate
    Licensed associate under LPC-S supervision
    $120 per session

All LPC-Associates are supervised by Maribel Faucett, LPC-S, and receive ongoing clinical oversight. Associate-level care is a cost-effective option that does not compromise clinical quality.

    Couples Therapy Rates

Couples therapy is provided on a private-pay basis. Because the focus of this work is the relationship rather than an individual diagnosis, most insurance plans do not cover it. We offer two rate tiers based on therapist level.

Maribel Faucett — MEd, LPC-S, EMDR Certified, Gottman Certified Therapist

    Session TypeRate
Initial session (per spouse, 50 min each)
    $225 per spouse
    Couples session — 90 minutes
    $300
    Couples session — 50 minutes
    $250

Veronica Petty — MS, LPC, Gottman Level II, Prepare and Enrich Certified

    Session TypeRate
Initial session (per spouse, 50 min each)
    $160 per spouse
    Couples session — 90 minutes
    $230
    Couples session — 50 minutes
    $190

We recommend 90-minute sessions for couples in the early stages of therapy, as the additional time allows for more thorough assessment and deeper work within each session. Shorter sessions may be appropriate for couples who are maintaining progress.

    Biosound Therapy Rates

Biosound Therapy is a holistic wellness service and is not covered by insurance. It is available at our Plano and Fort Worth locations.

    Session TypeRate
    Single session (50 minutes)

Insurance — What We Accept and How It Works

    In-Network Insurance Plans

We are in-network with the following insurance providers for individual therapy. Participation varies by therapist; please confirm your specific therapist’s network status during your consultation.

    –     Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)

    –     Aetna

    –     Cigna

    –     United Healthcare (UHC)

    –     Oxford

    –     Oscar

LPC-S and LPC-level therapists accept all of the plans above. LPC-Associates accept Aetna, Cigna, and BCBS.

    How Insurance Claims Are Submitted

We submit insurance claims through our billing partner Headway and through our internal insurance contracts. You do not need to submit claims yourself. We handle the billing process and will communicate clearly about your benefits, copay, and any cost-sharing before your first session.

    Out-of-Network Benefits

If your insurance plan is not listed above, you may still have out-of-network mental health benefits. We verify your benefits before your first session and can provide a monthly Superbill — an itemized receipt with the clinical codes your insurance company needs — that you can submit directly to your insurer for potential reimbursement.

    Insurance for Couples Therapy

Couples therapy is provided on a private-pay basis only. Insurance coverage requires an individual diagnosis, which is not the clinical framework for couples work. Some clients choose to have one partner billed individually while the other participates, but this is only clinically appropriate in specific circumstances. We will discuss this honestly during your consultation.

    HSA and FSA Cards

Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards are accepted for all therapy services. These pre-tax funds can be a meaningful way to reduce the out-of-pocket cost of care.

    Good Faith Estimate

Under the No Surprises Act, clients who are uninsured or who choose not to use their insurance are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of their therapy services. We provide this estimate in writing before your first session. Please see our Good Faith Estimate page for additional information, or ask us during your consultation.

    Cancellation and No-Show Policy

Your scheduled appointment represents reserved time for you, your therapist, and the practice. We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. A $65 late cancellation or no-show fee applies to appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice. This policy is in place to respect the time of our therapists and to ensure that appointment availability remains accessible to all clients.

Insurance Questions We Hear Most Often

How do I know if my insurance covers therapy?

We verify your benefits before your first session. You can also call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask specifically about outpatient mental health coverage, your copay or coinsurance, your deductible, and whether there is a limit on the number of sessions covered per year. We are happy to walk through your benefits with you during your consultation.

What is the difference between a copay and a deductible?

A copay is a fixed amount you pay per session, typically $20 to $60 depending on your plan. A deductible is the amount you must pay out-of-pocket before your insurance begins sharing costs. If you have a high deductible plan, you may pay the full session rate until you meet your deductible, after which your copay or coinsurance applies. We clarify which situation applies to you before your first session.

Will my employer know I am in therapy if I use my insurance?

No. Insurance companies are required by federal law to keep your mental health treatment information private. Your employer does not have access to your claims data. The only information that may appear on an Explanation of Benefits is the date of service, the type of service (outpatient mental health), and the amount billed. No diagnosis or clinical detail is shared with your employer.

Can I use out-of-network benefits for any therapist?

If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you can typically see any licensed therapist and submit for reimbursement using a Superbill. Reimbursement rates and processes vary by plan. We can provide a Superbill and help you understand the submission process.

    Does insurance cover telehealth therapy?

Yes, in most cases. The expansion of telehealth coverage in recent years has been significant, and most major insurance plans now cover telehealth therapy at the same rate as in-person sessions. We verify your specific telehealth coverage as part of our standard benefits verification process.

To check your benefits, use our Insurance Benefits Verification Form on the website, or bring your insurance card information to your free consultation and we will check for you.
